Harlem Bespoke: We always wondered about what the storefronts on Sugar Hill by the express subway station entrance at 147th Street looked like back in the day and an archival city photo reveals that it was mostly empty lots. A luncheonette and small grocery store was at the south end of this location on St. Nicholas Avenue but the majority of commercial space in the area had nothing on site. Nowadays, The Porch will be opening soon and the low-level shop district is still a pivotal hub for the neighborhood. With all that said, we especially like the bespoke gentleman in the photo who provides a rare glimpse of uptown street style from the era.
