Demon Slayer Spin-Off 'Kimetsu Gakuen!' Gets Manga Series in Saikyo Jump

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

The Demon Slayer kids are heading back to school, or starting school? Did they go to school in the original series?

The official website for Saikyo Jump revealed today that not only is the magazine moving back to a monthly publication after being released every two months starting with its next issue, but a new serialization start with the renewed magazine–a manga series based on the Kimetsu Gakuen! shorts from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. A teaser image has been released for the announcement.

Kimetsu Gakuen!

Kimetsu Gakuen! will start in the September issue of Saikyo Jump which is scheduled to be released on August 4. Hell Warden Higuma creator Natsuki Hokami will be penning the series with Koyoharu Gotouge listed as the original creator of the Demon Slayer franchise. Kimetsu Gakuen! will focus on the characters we know from the main series in a chibi style based on the shorts that aired after the TV anime series episodes.

Hell Warden Higuma was a short-lived series in Weekly Shonen Jump that ran from December 2018 to May 2019 and was collected into 3 volumes. Viz released the series in English on its Shonen Jump+ platform and the three volumes digitally, describing the series as such:

Higuma Kagarite is like any other high school student, except for one thing—his family has been charged by King Enma of hell himself to act as his Hell Wardens and return escaped evil souls to hell. He uses his Hell Warden abilities to save innocent humans who have been possessed by these fugitive spirits. One day, he meets Ayako, a girl at his school who keeps stealing things but can’t remember why. Ayako’s brother has recently become abusive toward her and her family. Higuma vows to save both her and her brother and to send the demons haunting them back to hell!
