Monster Hunter Rise Review, Not Just Monster Hunting

Present for the first time in 2020 ago, this Monster Hunter Rise game has indeed shown many different things from the previous version. Not only the story and the world are new, there are various new elements that are also present in this series. Released via the Nintendo Switch platform on March 26, 2021, Monster Hunter Rise has already touched sales of 5 million copies. On our occasion this time, we will give a simple review for the popular Monster Hunter Rise.

It’s still quite surprising for a game of this size to be released on the Nintendo Switch Platform. Even though it doesn’t have visuals like other famous consoles, Monster Hunter Rise can in fact offer many new things that are not in the Monster Hunter World game. Even though it has the same mechanics, this game is actually an upgraded version of the shortcomings that existed in the previous release. The first thing we will review is the Story Monster hunter Rise which is no less exciting than before.

The Story That Is Now More Serious and Challenging

If you’ve played the Monster Hunter World game before, then you already know the concept of the story they offer. That’s right, you will again become a Hunter who lives in a Village called Kumura. In order to protect the habitat and ecosystem of the monsters of this game world, Hunters were created. Your task is to hunt monsters that threaten your settlement. But there is a big conflict that suddenly appears in the area where you live.

Without you knowing the hills where you live is the sleeping location of the Ancient Catastrophe who is now awake. A destruction event called “The Rampage” triggers the movement of the Monster ecosystem to attack several human settlement areas. You will later join the Investigation group to deal with this incident so it doesn’t get worse. Your squad will complete the Rampage Mission to avoid the Wave Monsters that attack.

With this story, the entire world of the Monster Hunter Rise game seems to be inversely proportional to Monster Hunter World. This state of the story makes the game world more serious and a little darker. Of course, this is their new step in providing a more conflict-focused narrative. Even so, there are still funny and interesting things in the style of the Monster Hunter game. So far, the narrative is still the same as the previous game.

A More Vivid and Atmospheric World Design During War

Different from Monster Hunter World which has a Steam-Punk Western culture theme, this time we will show them with a magic theme and Asian culture. Various architectural designs and the village where you live will have a fairly thick Asian culture. Examples are the presence of the type of Food, the form of Armor and Weapon that the Hunter uses. Not only that, the story they offer seems more serious about conflict than Monster Hunter World, which focuses on the diversity of its world.

In this game, we will take them to a more serious world than before. Considering that our village always gets attacked by monsters, it makes the various structures of buildings and forts of settlements damaged. Yep, this is what makes Atmospheric the war era horror they show. some NPCs don’t even stand still in certain places. There are also NPCs who prepare fortress weapons to deal with the next Monster attack.

Gameplay With New Play-Style Changes and Exploration Elements

There are so many things they have changed from this Gamepaly game. Even so, the way players do Tracking Monsters and Combat is still the same and doesn’t have many changes. The first thing they added to this game is the Mobility element which is now even more improved. As the story progresses, players will get a skill called “WireBug.” By using this skill you can avoid all map obstacles. You can also use it for Combat Air Attack.

Procedure Wirebug almost like a spider web in the Marvel Spiderman game. It’s just that you can now use it to walk on Vertical surfaces and Combat against Monsters. The presence of this skill is very useful for increasing the character’s mobility when exploring and fighting existing monsters. Of course, this is a plus for those of you who are tired of the Rolling method to avoid large monster attacks.

Still not satisfied with exploration? Relax, we can also drive a Dog (Palamute) in this game to get around the map quickly. But unfortunately, from all these positive things, there is one thing they have removed from the Monster Hunter Rise gameplay. That’s right, there are some things from the grinding element in this game that they reduce in order to support gameplay that is more focused on action. Whereas the more serious grinding element is the main core of the Monster Hunter series.

Combat is more slick and full of strategy and the presence of an addictive mode

Not many changes to the Combat mechanics they provide in this game. it’s just that we can feel that this version will be a little faster than the previous game. Even though it has the same Combat system. There are still some things that they give to this element, which we already discussed is the WireBug that we can use when Combat. Meanwhile, there are other things that are quite interesting for them to implement in this game. The following is an explanation of Wyvern Riding’s features:

The first thing that stands out when Combat is the presence of the Monster Riding (Wyvern Riding) feature. That’s right, if you have doubts about an enemy who has lethal power, you can Taming another monster to make him fight. You can access this feature directly using the Wirebug that you have. Almost every Monster you can ride in this game. But first you must have an item with the name Puppet Spider.

Next is the presence of a new Mode that is only present in the Monster Hunter Rise game. This mode has the name Rampage Mission. If you are curious, this mode is a Tower Defense mode. You will be joined in a team of hunters to protect the village which will get attacked by dozens of monsters. Yep, you can use Mounted Gun as well as various weapons available in the village defense. This mode is perfect for those of you who want to enjoy Co-Op.

Visual Performance That Never Disappoints

Given that Monster Hunter Rise has just been released on the Nintendo Switch platform, the visuals they offer will certainly not be as good as PC. Even so, Capcom can still handle some small points that can increase the comfort of the eyes of gamers in enjoying the visuals of this game. For those of you Nintendo Switch users, I don’t think Monster Hunter Rise has any problems with FPS. You can choose freely when playing Docking or Portable.

Not only that, Capcom can also reduce the long loading time in the previous game. Currently, Monster Hunter Rise can overcome Load Time constraints during Respawn Combat, Fast Travel, to the Main Menu. One more positive thing we get in this latest game Capcom. Hopefully later for the PC version can apply the same thing, especially for Loading Time.

Monster Hunter Rise Review Conclusion

One more step from Capcom in developing their game. Not only fun for us to play, Monster Hunter Rise can also provide many changes from the previous series. Although they had reduced some of the Grinding elements that have become the hallmark of Monster Hunter, they managed to replace it with an Action-focused mechanic. For those of you who are looking for fun Co-Op games for Nintendo Switch, this game is a must have for you.

The success of this game through its first platform certainly makes us impatient to enjoy this game through a more powerful PC platform. Hopefully, in the future Capcom can improve the visuals of this game to be better but with lighter performance. In the meantime, we’re still waiting for more about the newest expansion, which is hopefully bigger than Monster Hunter Ice Born.

That’s all our discussion about Monster Hunter Rise Review. For those of you who are interested, you can enjoy Monster Hunter Rise on the Nintendo Switch platform. For those of you PC users, you have to be patient again. Because you can only enjoy this game on the PC platform in 2022. Unfortunately, until now we still don’t know whether this game will be released for PlayStation or not.
