Like my plaid look, I like to do a few non-literal festive looks. I do these for most holidays. Sometimes I like a color scheme rather than intricate art. Last year, I did a simple Halloween manicure with orange swirls and I loved it so much, I decided to do it in Hanukkah colors!
I have to give a huge shout out to Stella Chroma for making Tangled Tinsel. I love this flake top coat and I love that it still has not tarnishes years later. I use it all the time. It's easy to put on and removal is a breeze. It makes any manicure prettier in two seconds!
Whenever I am using a sheer base, I like to use a ridge filling or more opaque base coat. This is why I love Stella Chroma Super Food as it is a little more opaque. Then I added a coat of Tangled Tinsel to only about half my nail since I knew I was covering up the other half with the blue cremes.
Here are the colors I used. I wanted only creme polishes for the blues and I love it.
- Base coat: Stella Chroma Super Food for Nails
- Base color: Morgan Taylor Barely Buff, 2 coats
- Silver flake topcoat: Stella Chroma Tangled Tinsel
- Dark blue: Zoya Walker
- Medium blue: Morgan Taylor Blue-Eyed Beauty
- Light blue: Zoya Blu
So are these too abstract to call them Hanukkah nails? It is not as obvious as dreidels but it is still a fun and festive look! I only dabbed on Tangled Tinsel over the blue because I did not want to cover it up.
So which do you like better: matte or shiny? I wore it shiny but the last day, I added the matte and loved it so much more!
